  1. I'm used to frameserving from virtualdub, and familiar with a lot of filters.
I have a cartoon, and this is new for me. I'm used to doing dv cam, and movie stuff.
It's a fairly old (1950's) originally on film, and it's not blurry, but it's "fuzzy". Edges are not sharp at all. I don't know if it's interlaced or not, but that doesn't seem to have any effect.
I've tried the normal sharpen filter, and msharpen by Donald Graft, but nothing seems to clean up the edges, without destroying the video somehow, macroblocking, streaking, among other things.
Is there some different vdub filter I should be using, or combination?
How about tmpgenc settings, anything there I could use to sharpen it up?
    Cheers, Jim

LordSmurf has some info on his page. Maybe you can PM him to see if he can send you the filter settings?

  3. TMPGEnc offers a CG/Animation quantization matrix setting. If that helps.

    Cartoon Tool
    Msu_sharp
Static Noise reduction / Dynamic Noise reduction (use lower values)

For cartoons, temporal smooth is also good, but not spatial based filters

  5. OK, now I gotta google all this stuff...
SatStorm, I have been trying the static/dynamic noise reduction, but I'll try msu_sharp and cartoon tool as well, thanks.
Do you mean MSU Deblocking, when you said msu sharp? I can't get it to work, and I tried all the suggestions in the thread on it.

    Edit: Got them here: http://www.hlinke.de/Vdub-Filterlist/vdub-filterlist.html
I'll let you know how it all turns out.
