Hi everybody.
I've been trying to translate subtitles for a favourite DVD of mine. I write them in a plain text editor as an .srt-file. So far it works great.
BUT: Whenever I use tags for either italic or bold (mostly italic for people off screen) ffmpegX simply ignores those tags. This means, when I either encode or play or preview the movie with my .srt-file the tags themselves are no longer showing up but the text still isn't italic.
I don't know too much about this and it's my first venture into subtitles, but can it be that ffmpegX doesn't provide italic fonts?
I'm using ffmpegX 0.0.9s and the mencoder/mplayer binaries from 23rd of January. I write the .srt-files with SubEthaEdit 2.0.1 using UTF-8 text encoding.
So far,
David

The OSD display system of mplayer which handles the actual rendering is currently limited to one color and ignores special styles.
