  1. i have a sanyo 2903 (3 disc changer) .. it plays everything except XSVCD's...
i tested out the RCA 5240p at the store the other day and it plays everything. They are both the same price, but the sanyo has a great remote and 3 disc changer, while the rca can play anything...
I am wondering if the difference between SVCD and XSVCD is great enough to go with the RCA.
Also, any input on these players would be appreciated.

  2. jojojojojo,

Hi, by name is speaks for itself. XSVCD obviously has an extended (higher) bitrate and flexible size than the SVCD and that means better quality. However, I believe (not sure), that if the sanyo is able to play everything including SVCD, it should play XSVCD. Also, think ahead, if you're planning to make your own VCD, SVCD, etc. If so, make sure the player supports CD-R/CD-RW playback. So, my conclusion is, try test the sanyo again. And of course if both could play everything, then the one with the 3 cd changer and remote will be more interesting.

Not to confuse you but Pioneer is a VERY good player. Keep in mind, some player display the screen too big, esp if displaying China made, Chinese Karaoke vcd discs. Esp. the Philip brand (not to say its no good) but the wording will go below your TV screen. So check everything closely before purchasing. Good Luck, Jordan

  3. Thanks for the reply..
I have checked sanyo with the reference images of vcd xvcd svcd xsvcd at vcdhelp.com. The xsvcd's do not play...they 'play' but nothing smooth or impressive.
it's a GREAT player... just wanna know if xsvcd is somehow 'obviously' better than svcd... i wanna know if i'll SEE a difference, as aposed to just changing numbers in the encoders (upping bits/s)

i like XSVCD more than SVCD.. its very good.. very smooth.. and very clear.. and the file size is great!.. you can fit more movie length on the CD.. xsvcd works on Pioneer DV 434. the picture is very beautiful.. the template i used is shizzzons one.. i'm impressed with that template =)-.. well, its my opinion on xsvcd =)..

  6. ShiZZZoN-

Thanks jojojojojo for the usage of my template.

The quality of svcd vs xsvcd is really easy to answer.
if one is using xsvcd to hold MORE than standard, svcd would be better pic quality just because its bitrate is higher, BUT, in my template, thats when i address the filters.
No blurring is necessary because that takes away the pic quality.

I am in the process now of currently introducing the 1st set of templates for each movie group online.
I have been noticing using the same seting filters for the same movie group tends to always work.
I am in the process of making them for the following-
    Centropy
    TMMVCD
    TFE
    HBOVCD
TEG-VCD(Note- this group tends to change their quality so there will be multiple temps for this one)
    Vandalism
    THCISO
    Elitem4a
    EvilISO
    uMP
    Vortex
    HafVCD
    TCF
    Legion VCD
    Ambush
    X-streem
    Titan-VCD
    FBiVCD
    Tuc
    NOX
    ASXVCD
    IgnorantVCD
    UNF
    FastEmpire

When i have made temps for all of these, I will be in the stage of my temp as- ShiZZZoN'Z Temps: PzN-1.0m

I have added a new thing to testing for my new temp but havent done varifiable testing on it yet. If it comes out teh way i want it to, you will be able to encode a movie without worrying about blocks EVER WITHOUT any filters or a lot less guaranteed.
