  1. Im having trouble tracking down the reason for the bad playback of any ogm files i try on one of my pcs.

the specs for it are a 1.1ghz celeron, 512mb ram, Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 pci card, and windows xp home.

the problem im having is that audio and video constantly go out of sync. i watch the windows monitor tool and cpu usage goes to the top and stays there, which leads me to belive the system is being overtaxed. but shouldnt this system be pletny powerful enough to play ogm's back smoothly? Im nto pusing anyhting else in the background when i try to run them.

Xvid and other avi and even dvds play smoothly without problems, but it seems container files like ogm and mkv give the same out of sync problem. What could be cuasing the problem?

Could be more to do with what is in the container than the container itself.

Try mplayer or VLC and see if they work any better.
