  2. reason that it won't burn is because 80 cd's only hold 700mb. your file is to big. try splitting over 2 cds.

  3. Magnus,

I am not expert here, but I have had this same problem and I hope this will help:

Is your MPEG file VCD compliant? If it is not, then Nero will automatically pad the file to make it so. Some times when it pads the file, the file gets too big to fit on a CD-R.

Try to demultiplex the file and then multiplex it back using MPEG-1 VCD non-standard (if you are using TMPGEnc). This will give you a better idea of how big the file is when made into a VCD compliant file and let you know if you have to cut it into two smaller files.

    Good Luck!

I don't know how much experience you have with this so sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but are you sure you are trying to burn the CD in VCD format and are you sure the file is the correct format? You have to select "video CD" when you create your new CD compilation - you can't just burn it onto a data CD. Also, the file has to be the right standard (well, sort of since this is XVCD) else you have to have the standard compliance checking turned off. Please provide more information about the error you are getting.

  5. djvirus,

That is not true since a VCD's are not written the same way as data discs are. I have burned MPEG's that are ~820 MB's each as VCD and SVCD on 80 minute discs.

The file is NOT too big. It should fit nicely onto the 80min CD. Read the FAQ - http://www.vcdhelp.com/faq.htm#740

  8. fact if your time on your VCD for 1150 bitrate is over 82min. it won't fit, 41min if its 2520 bitrate.

80Mb CD's will hold 700Mb of computer data, with VCD the limit is actually more like 810Mb. This is because error correction isn't used. Basically if you use standard VCD settings 80min video's fit on 80min CD's

Just to make sure, are you burning this as a VCD or adding the mpeg to a data CD. Try VCDEasy (from the tools to your left).

That's a new one on me although I am certainly no expert and I haven't tried to burn more than 82 minutes yet so I can't dispute that with my experiences. However, unless he has a ridiculously low audio bit rate, with a 753 Mb file, I doubt that his video is over 82 minutes. Where did you come up with that tidbit?

You'll better give up Nero and switch ot VCDimager. There are plenty good GUI's available for it. Using this authorer you can easely create a VCD of over 800Mb ( around 70minutes of video) onto a 800Mb cd. Naturely you got to gues what it's lenght is when you're not creating standard vcd, while the (x)vcd's using vbr are different sizes and different play-length's. Anyway, VCDimager won't correct the mpeg and try to change it, like the VCD-authorer of Nero does.

But hey, good news. In the future VCDimager will support Nero too, also will VCDwizard (a gui to VCDimager).
