I get the audio but the screen is just green when I try playing it. The codec says DivX 4. Anyone know what's wrong?

Have you tried to play the AVI with GSpot?

Open up your AVI, click Render button to check if your installed codecs will work, and finally select File Play from the menu.

  6. Maybe the video part of your AVI file is just a green screen

    Can you download another copy?

  7. Try uninstalling any old versions of the mpeg 4 codecs and reinstall the latest Divx and Xvid.

Or maybe your DIVX codecs are corrupt. You might try reinstalling them. Also, if you installed a codec pack this can happen.

Try VLC media player. It may be able to play the files without the 'green'.

    EDIT: And what junkmalle said.

I believe VLC uses it own codecs. Which probably confirms that your other codecs are corrupt. But glad it works.
