OK. I just got done with a mini star wars movie which I have spent 2 years working on (adobe premier & blender). I am extremely happy with how it came out when watched on the computer but have 2 small complaints when I watched it on the TV last night. If there's nothing I can do about them, then I'll have to make my peace but I thought I'd check.
1. Brightness/Color - On the PC monitor, the brightness and color look perfect. On the TV everything is too bright and the color is a little washed out. I know there is a difference between tv displays and PC displays and that adjustments should be made to account for this. But why do professional DVDs (Star Wars ATOTC) appear the same on both the TV and the PC? The difference in MY video is VERY noticable. Is there anything I can do to correct this?
Someone suggested I use the Broadcase Safe filter (with reduce luminance). I am re-rendering with this filter now to try tonight. Is there anything else I could do? Do I just need to apply another filter and make the whole thing darker?
2. Audio - On my PC (2 speakers, 1 subwoofer), I got this really really great bass. I expected even better on my home system which runs through a surround sound receiver with and even better subwoofer. In general, professional DVD's sound better and bassier on my surround sound system than on the PC. However, when played on my tv system last night, I felt I was missing some of the wall-rattling bass that my PC had. My guess is that this is because my video only has stereo audio and not true 5.1 surround sound. Because of this, the subwoofer is probably not getting its own feed. Does that sound correct?
I just re-encoded my AC3 files with 5.1 surround sound. Since I filmed everything in stereo, it won't be true Surround Sound. I put the left channel on the Front Left, Surroung Left, Center, And LFE channels and right on Front Right and Surround Right. Will test this tonight also, but is there anything else anyone can think of?
Thanks for the help
Josh

Your TV and PC contrast and color setting maybe different. You can use the Premiere filter to tweak the brightness, contrast and gemma.
