Hi, not sure what legal issues Im going to get told asking this But I have a video I want to record to DVD using my standalone phillips dvdr70 recorder but the video is protected and it won't let me record.. I Own the video and just want to put it onto DVD to try and phase out videos and have everything on DVD and this one video won't let me (you can't get it on DVD) so is there any way of doing it I still own the orginal video so I don't see how I can be doing anything wrong

The cheapest way would be to buy an inexpensive video stabilizer ($40 Can.), that removes the macrovision..

If you own the video and are saving a copy for yourself, even in a different media format, you are probably not breaking the law. This is called "fair use" in the U.S.
If you make multiple copies and distribute them for money (or even for free) then you are violating the law.
