  1. Had large avi file - cut it in 2 and converted both to 2 separate vcd compatible mpeg files using Ulead Movie Factory. Both worked fine on the PC in windows media player - sounds and pictures wonderful quality and all in sync etc. Burned to disc using Nero (said files were compatible with no worries) and also tried burning with Ulead then when played on dvd player (which works fine with vcds in the past the video looks wonderful but there is NO SOUND.

Anyone got any ideas what is going wrong here ? Most annoying I can tell you !!!

    Thanks,

  2. Have you ever made any other VCDs that worked on your player?

Does you player support CD-R or CD-RW media (does it say so explicitly on the front panel of your player or in the manual)?

  3. Yeah I have played loads of vcds in the past - and ones I have burned myself so I know the dvd player is top spec and can play anything on it.

Thing is I even checked the encoding of the audio on the converted mpeg and it is exactly as vcd audio should be - to the letter so I am well baffled as to where the audio has gone.

Trying it on Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon tonight and will see how that goes - could just be a dodgy dvd rip on the Shrek file I am having trouble with.

    thanks,

  4. I am having a similar problem. I converted a DivX movie to SVCD using TMPGEnc and I am able to play the file on the computer. Picture and sound are in sync, everything looks good. The file is about 550MB and runs about 45 minutes.

I'm using Nero to try to burn the SVCD. When I drag the file into Nero, Nero shows the file in the SVCD folder to be 121Mb and the movie length is 15 minues. Also, when I play the disc on my DVD player, I get good picture, but no sound.

I have burned VCDs successfully with Nero, but this is the first SVCD I have tried. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.
