Landlord allegedly demanded sex for rent
Alleged demand caught on tape
Tuesday, November 16, 2004
LINCOLN, Nebraska (AP) -- A landlord went on trial Monday over accusations he demanded sex once a week from a woman who wanted to rent a house from him.
"Let's put it on the table ... once a week sounds good," a man identified as John Koch tells the woman on the tape.
The Justice Department has brought civil action against Koch for allegedly demanding sexual favors from women tenants -- many of them low-income and desperate to find housing -- in lieu of such things as rent and security deposits.
Prosecutors said Koch, who owns or manages about 50 rental properties in the Omaha area, also entered women's homes without notice and stole things if they rejected his advances. Some tenants were wrongfully evicted or threatened in violation of the Fair Housing Act, the lawsuit alleges.
Tamechia Nedds, a single mother of two, said she agreed to be wired after she complained to Omaha's Fair Housing Center about Koch's alleged conduct.
Nedds testified that Koch made suggestive remarks to her several weeks before the tape was made, when she initially contacted him about renting a house.
"I felt lost," she said. "I felt like less of a person."
Koch's lawyer, Matthew McBride, said Koch's behavior may have been "immoral" and "not proper," but it did not break federal law.
"There were no violent acts committed by Mr. Koch -- that's important here," he said.
The suit seeks unspecified monetary damages and a halt to the alleged discrimination.

well at least the sexual advances stopped, unfortunately the lady will now be homeless...hum..I should apply for that position

I dunno, a barter system works well sometimes. Why should these women go without housing just for lack of money? If they have something to trade for it.....
They do have a choice. -
I can see both sides of it:
The guy has every right to ask for that in exchange .....the woman can always say no. Like tekkieman said ...the barter system. She has a commodity. And if she agrees...like a disturbing number of women nowadays just might ....it's a symbiotic relationship. He allows her into his property to pursue happiness....and she allows him into her pleasure palace ...to pursue happiness.Live and let live.
-or -
He's abusing his position as a landlord to satisfy his needs. Apparently he's a toad and can't find a woman just on his own charm, looks and intelligence ...he has to find a chink in their armor and take advantage of their vulnerability as someone who needs a place to stay. He's pathetic, and should be locked up. -
I didn't mean to imply that he's not pathetic, but I do still favor the barter system for many things.

Pffft, as if being low-income and desperate to find housing isn't degrading.
I say put out or get out!"Terminated!" :firing: -
Every woman is a prostitute to some degree, not by their own doing, but because just about every man is trying to bang em' and they know it.
Women's activist complain about it, but fact is, if you could buy pu$$y at wal-mart in assorted sizes, colors and flavors like you can bubble gum, women would lose 99% of their power.
Women control half the money and all the pussy...and most men believe they can never have enough of either...which is true, and we will do whatever we have to, to not trade one for the other -

I know a doctor who went this route with my best friend once. She needed meds & he said, 'why don't you come here after hours & I can give you some?' -
Sex for housing? That is how my wife pays for the roof over her head. Hey, wait a minute I think she missed a payment. Damb, thats what I get for letting her do the bookeeping!

Yea there is probally a morality issue here and apparently a legal issue too. But I got to say that at least he was up front about it. A lot of rental agreements have service type clauses in them. Like you have to keep the grass mowed or wash your windows or what have you, so if he could get a little action on the side from a willing tennent whats the harm(other that the prevailing morality and laws) If this guy is getting this kind of action from even half of his 50 renters ha would have to be one tired ******.
