  1. I been making Xvcd's for like 5 months...I use nero to burn the vcd's...The vcd's work great most of the time on my dvd player...Sometimes at certain parts while playing it will almost loose track and freeze for a sec then move on sometimes loosing the audio/video synch...And sometimes a play the same vcd on the same dvd player and it reads the vcd without a hitch...Why?? I can play it on my computer through windows media player fine so i know it isnt the vcd even though certain programs may burn i wouldnt say better but it may be more compatible for some dvd players..Im wondering if there is a way to burn xvcd's on Easy cd creator 5 and if not what other programs could i burn xvcd's? I tried other things before i started burning like turning off like every prgram i could to see if it would make a diffrence...And it dont matter one bit...Im running Windows Xp Pro and running the latest version of Nero...Any help will be greatly appreciated...

The most likely reason is that your DVD player is having difficultly reading your CD-R media... If it gets a read error and cannot read it again fast enough, it can lead to a blip, A/V sync, etc.

However, if you're lucky and it doesn't get a read error while you are playing a disc, then it plays fine.

The fact that you can play it sometimes with artifacts that are not fixed in location would usually suggest that there isn't an encoding or burning problem.

Have you tried different brands of media?

Some people with this problem sometimes find that burning at a lower burn speed helps...

  3. I havent tried any other brand cuz these are the ones i heard worked really well with my dvd player..And they do for the most part...I burned alot of music cd's and they work great, no problems what so ever....Go figure thats music 4 ya...I have tried bruning at a slower speed and the last time i tried it the same thing happened where it seemed to mess up like half way through it...But its weird cuz as i was saying it doesnt do it all the time but if it does its at a certain part of the movie...This problem doesnt happen on all my vcd's and im wondering why it hasnt happened on some of the earlier xvcd's i had burned...thanx for the info

  4. Perhaps your problems arise when there is a spike in the bitrate in the certain parts of the movie... Your DVD player would then have to read those bits faster --> possible problems.

  9. Okay, Sony DVD player.

    That explains just about everything.

Sony DVD players are very very finicky in terms of what CD-R/W media they can play. I'm impressed that you've found a CD-R media that plays at all (most people on the forums had to resort to CD-RW media).

As people have mentioned before (and you discovered yourself), if the DVD player has difficulty reading a CD in the first place (which sounds like your problem), a different burn speed can make a difference. Usually, lower burn speeds help, but this seems to be the other way in your case which is somewhat unusual but not unreported.

Have you tried CD-RW media? These often work better in these cases.

  10. Yeah i know sony dvd players are very picky on what they can play and cannot...Im sure sony knows about this and is having a good laugh right about now...those bastards...I have tried cd-rw media and it works about the same as the cdrw...Usually on the cdrw it doesnt freeze up though it just gets blocky for know reason at all(but not all the time though)...Im just waiting until sony releases a 300 disc dvd changer that is cdr/w compatible..I cant wait for the day...I payed nearly $600 a year ago for this 300 disc dvd/cd changer and Onkyo has a 300 disc dvd changer that is cdr/w compatible and they want like $900 for it...I would get it if best buy happened to sell onkyo but they dont...I noticed sony is starting to change there line up more towards cdr/w media...I guess i'll just have to be patient if they do come out with my model thats cdr/w compatible...I cant wait to get one...L8r

  11. Just to let you know - you are not alone. My problem is similar to yours, but mine only seems to go wrong after say 45 mins-1hr (on a Pioneer player). The weird thing is that it only goes wrong if I watch the whole film through to that point. If instead I fast-forward to the same point it seems to play the 'bad' bit with no problem. Go figure !
Anyway, I'm gonna try using CD-RW disks instead of CD-R disks as one of your helpers suggested. Can't do any harm !
