    Hi Experts,
I'm a bit new to these audio/video conversion processes. I only bought my DVD burner a week ago and i have found this website and its guides/forums to be immensely helpful. I am having problems with the audio synch of a couple of my mpg files after converting them from avi with TMPEnc. The original avi files have no synch problems. I have stripped the wav audio file from the avi with VituaDub and then used the two sources to create the final mpg. This has worked fine for 90% of my video files (downloaded TV shows), but a few just won't encode in synch. I've run DivxFix on the original files and no errors are found. Is there a way to manipulate the audio of the mpeg files themselves? This would really help me as I also have a couple mpg files with audio synch problems as well with no avi version to manipulate. Do I have to convert these to avi, fix them, and then re-encode to mpg? Anyone got any pointers for me?

    thanks for any help

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it out and let you know if it solves my avi->mpg problem. Still, is there a way to manipulate mpg audio? Those files won't load into VituaDub.

    thanks

Vituadub finds no bad frames in the avi file. Any other suggestions?

Does it start out in sync and get worse, or is it out by a fixed amount the whole way through? Is it in sync and then all of a sudden goes out of sync at some point?

It's pretty hard to fix the audio in an mpeg. You need to demultiplex it, fix it and then remux. Usually it's better to fix it at the start.

  6. Zippy is right, fix it at the start...BUT, if it's your encoder causing the sync problem, you can use tmpgenc's mpeg tools to demux. Fix the audio to resync, then remux.

One file (mpg) has the audio out of sync for the whole length, and another file (also mpg) just has a ~5 minute section in the middle of the episode that has sync problems.

Thanks for the tips and I'll check out the link
