  1. i am trying to extract the audio file from a xvid movie using virtualdub, when i open the movie in virtualdub i get this message. VirtaulDub has detected a improper bvr audio encoding in the source file and will rewrite the audio header with standard cbr values during processing for better compatibility. this may introduce up to 43975 ms of skew from the video stream. if this is unacceptable, decompress the*entire* audio stream to an uncompressed wav file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate:126.2 then a weird symbol 16.3kbs).
If i ignore this message and extract the audio file and use it as the audio source in tmpgenc. once the movie has encoded the sound is out of sync by about 30seconds. i have all the codecs and have not changed any settings. also i have made plenty other vcds but never any that need the xvid codec.

when you extract the audio are yoiu saving it as uncompressed wav/pcm format? If you are just extracting the audio with out saving it as uncompressed wav your audio will go out of sync...as you have found out.

If i remember correctly you need to click the audio tab then check full processing mode the check uncompressed wav. then save file as wav

    Good luck

Another thing you could do if that doesn't work is to extract the file like you did before, then rename the file to whatever the format is (mp3, ac3, whatever), then convert it into an actual .wav file using Headac3he.
