  1. Before I begin I checked the tmpgenc problems and tips thread, but it didn't help much. Anyway, here is the deal. I have been using tmpgenc for a while now and it always seems to do the job until recently it now takes 30 hours to convert when it only used to take 2-3. What did I do to deserve this? Did I change any options without knowing or something. I would appreciate any ideas/thoughts to how I could slim my conversion time down to 2-3 hours once again. Thanks.

You have not provided any information to help troubleshoot this problem.
There are many causes of this type of problem:
You have a virus (i.e someone has hi-jacked you computer)
You have a large amout of spyware running.
You have had a memory failure.
Your HD needs to be defraged.

  6. Are you staying with standard settings?

If you are making a NTSC DVD, select that setting in the Wizard or on the "Load" settings button on the bottom right.

Filters can be unusually time consuming. I will not use them with Tmpgenc.

Vbr 2 Pass will double the time. Only use if needed. (The need for more than one hour on a DVD without losing quality)

  7. I am just using normal settings. I didn't change anything to my knowledge. I did re-boot. I did do a virus scan as well as a spyware scan. I re-intalled the software today. I will work with it a bit more, any more suggestions?

I turned off everything that was running, it is still about the same. Any ideas of what to do change settings wise?

    You need to be sure.

Take a test clip and select NTSC DVD setting. This will reset your default setting, which may have changed. Start encoding at 8000 kbits CBR at the same size (resolution) as the source. You can stop encoding after a couple of minutes when you see how long it is going to take to complete.

If this don't encode at a reasonable rate, then you will need to be more specific in you request. Such as details of the source that you are trying to encode. It would also help to update your computer profile.

One tip: wait a little more than half an hour before trying to bump your topic.

Newbie does not mean we will hold your hand or come to your house and spoon-feed you.

You may have installed something that just doesn't agree with TMPGEnc. I've tried shareware that nearly caused me to have to reformat my drive.

You need to be more specific if you want step by step advice on a problem.

For starters, update your computer profile in your personal information on this web site.

To eliminate any possible hardware problems; did you run defrag?

How much space do you have on the hard drive?

Did you check the properties of the Primary hard drive controller to see if it is in the DMA mode?

There are plenty of these things that you can do in your process of elimination, if you tell us more on what you have and what you already have checked.

  14. I fixed it myself for future refrences if anyone has this problem tell them to change the directshow reader priority, in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 2 or to the top of the plugin-list and reopen the video.

TMPGEnc keeps encoding after the end of video with only a black screen
Try change the directshow reader priority, in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 2 or to the top of the plugin-list and reopen the video.
If that doesn't help try convert the audio to WAV audio before converting and use the wav as audio source.
And if all that didn't help you can always use the source range to select exact what to encode, under Settings->Advanced in TMPGEnc.
It was there all the time.
I've only just seen this thread.

You didn't exactly "fix it yourself", but kudos for re-reading (and posting) the TMPGEnc tips.
