    FYI
    I accidentilly converted 16:9 TV episode to SVCD with DVD2ONE. To my surprise I discovered that two of my DVD players can play it.
    Koss KD-305($35.00) will play them in correct aspect ratio 16:9 with the narrow black bars top and bottom.
    Philips DVP-642 will play them full screne 4:3 with the left and right edges cutoff.
