  1. I just downloaded the trial version of Ulead's DVD PictureShow software. Installation reported no errors, but when I try to open the program, I get a "Load MPEG vio Driver Error" complaining about "DVDPS:ini" file. Since it doesn't tell me specifically what's wrong with it, I did verify that it's at least present and in the expected directory path. I've installed and deleted the software twice (including downloading again from a different location just in case) -- all for naught.
Does anybody have any idea what the problem is and perhaps suggestions for fixing it?
    Thanks for any help.

  2. I ran into the same problem. You need to reboot your PC right after installed the software then you should be ok.

I tried "restart" initially and that didn't make any difference. Then I reinstalled and did a complete shut-down immediately following and that didn't help either. I get the same message no matter how many times I try to uninstall and reinstall it.
Any other ideas that I could try?

  4. What OS are you running? This may or may not help.
--Assuming you have no other Ulead products installed.--
Turn off antivirus program until you finish all the uninstall/install steps. Uninstall DVDPS and reboot. Delete DVDPS.ini, Ulead32.ini (if present) and Ulead folder (Everything under it). Install DVDPS.

  5. My operating system is Win98SE running on a Gateway Performance 750 Pentium III machine. Have plenty of hard drive space and 128 meg ram.
I always shut everything in background down (including Norton Anti-virus) before attempting to install any new software, so I had already done that, but I hadn't looked for "leftover" files. I just now found some "Ulead" stuff after uninstalling the software with everything in background shut down, so I deleted it, then rebooted, shut down everything in background, installed DVD PictureShow, shut down again, restarted. Clicked on icon and got the same message complaining about DVDPS.ini file.
Any other suggestions. I'm just about ready to give up on this "free trial" version of the software and invest the $30 bucks for the full version. At least then I can call Ulead for help. If I can't resolve by tomorrow night, I'll try that, but if anyone has other suggestions, I'm willing to give them a try.
    Thanks.

  6. What is the error message? Under programs open the msdos prompt window and type path and hit enter. What is the path?

  7. The exact error message that I receive is:
    Load MPEG vio Driver Error
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\ULEAD SYSTEMS\ULEAD DVD PICTURESHOW\ulead.dat\DVDPS.ini
I followed that path in windows explorer and it is correct. You asked me to tell you the path from the msdos prompt. For what it's worth, here is the result of my entry of "path" after the C:\WINDOWS> prompt. I don't understand it, but perhaps it will help you.
    PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\P ROGRAM FILES\MTS
Does any of this make sense?
    Thanks for your help.

  8. If you look in your autoexec.bat file in the root directory on your C: drive you should find the following line added during installation (If my memory serves me right):

    SET PATH=%PATH%;C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\ULEADS~1\MPEG

Check to see if you have this line in your autoexec.bat.

  9. Luckily, I had no problems installing and using the program. This is a very nice and easy to use photo album software for VCDs and DVDs, and is well worth the $30 price tag...

    Lamont,
I do have exactly that line as the last line in my autoexec.bat file.
However, I accidently executed the autoexec.bat file through windows explorer and I'm now wondering if the file ever gets to that line. It looks like I'm having a problem with soundblaster initiation. The last lines of the executed autoexec.bat indicated that "This program cannot be run from windows - Creative SB16 Emulator Driver not loaded" followed by a REM and then two "too many parameters" messages. I'm not technical enough to actually be able to figure out what's going on, but I didn't see anything about Ulead or MPEG or anything that looks like it might have something to do with DVD PictureShow.
    Thanks for all your help.

  11. Hi Judy, that is your problem. The line:
    SET PATH=%PATH%;C:\PROGRAS~1\COMMON~1\ULEADS~1\MPEG
is not being executed which is why you are getting the error message from DVD Picture Studio (Without the path in the environment DVD Picture Studion can't find a file it needs). When you entered path in the MS DOS prompt window you should have seen C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\ULEADS~1\MPEG in the path statement. You can make a temporary fix which will allow DVD Picture Studio to run by editing autoexec.bat and putting the SET PATH=%PATH%;C:\PROGRAS~1\COMMON~1\ULEADS~1\MPEG at the beginning.

  12. Lamont,
Thanks again for the help. I've got to leave for work in a few minutes (have to pay for all these toys) and will give your suggestion a try this evening. I'm sure you're right. I'll let you know if I have any success.

  13. Well folks, I think I have bigger problems unrelated to Ulead's DVD PictureShow. I tried moving the Ulead line in my autoexec.bat file to execute prior to the SoundBlaster file that I thought was causing the problem. Now the Ulead line has multiple occurrences of C:Windows commands when executed. I don't understand what's going on, but it's time to seek help from Windows experts.
Thanks for trying to help me.
