    No, the 1008 does not burn DVD-r at 8x, it can burn at a maximum of 4x.

    I can't even get it to burn +r at 8x. Oh well, I guess I will have to buy a double layer burner.

    i've never tried 8x on this burner. the media is just too damn pricey to gain an extra 5-7 min. but this burner seems pretty solid at 4x. im pretty happy for what i paid for, but i think when dl becomes main stream im gonna be switching brands. the support and the knowledge just arent there for btc vs a more commonly used brand.
