  1. I've downloaded some video files that are AVI/DivX files and I want to know what program to use to convert it into a mpeg-2 file. Because I have Roxio Cd Creator 5.0 Platinum and I tried adding the file and I wouldn't work! What should I do and use. Thanks.

  2. If you want to make a vcd you can encode with tmpgenc available in the tools section on the left of the webpage. However this has various templates and if you absolutely need mpeg 2 then I believe that there is a 30 day trial for just the mpeg 2 conversion because that part of the encoder is not freeware. Know I'm assuming your new to the vcd scene and aren't aware of the specifications of vcds.
For vcd you need mpeg 1 with a resoloution of 352x240 a bitrate of 1150kb/sec and an stereo audio stream with 224kb/sec, its only for SVCD that you need the mpeg2 video stream. My advice is to browse the site first and read the how to section and the what is section to get familiar with terms and specs.

    Good luck.
