VCD framerate is normally 1150fps. I notice that the framerate of your file is 726fps .

That would be about right for a non-standard or xvcd of about 645M for 1h 35m so in terms of file size and movie length I would say it is about right.

I have a file similar to this size ill just have a quick play around with it and get back.

Right here we go couple of pic so give me chance to get them in first.

Looks surprisingly similar to yours doesn't it. Except that mine fits on the disc.

What seems to be happening there is that nerovision express doesn't see it as avcd compatible mpg and is atempting to reencode it which it will try to do . And it will do it at a bitrate of 1150fps which would make the file around 1GB for 1h 35m film.

I would reencode it with TMPGenc as an xvcd it may just have a messed up header but I dont know about that .

Ive just got someone arrive have look and see if you agree so far. Ill get back in about 45 mins or so.

Hi again. I have no idea how to re-encode to xvcd using TMPGenc I have the video file in the program but don't know how to go about it.

Is it as easy as loading up the file (with browse option) and then just press start or is there a certain template I should load up?

    Thanks again.

    Hey I'm back.

Do you know how to create a vcd file using TMPGenc ?

You need to create a new template for xvcd so you can reduce the bitrate which is something you cannot do in the standard templates , see pic

    I used this guide http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/TMPGEnc1CD.htm

It starts by showing you how to create the templates , once youve created them they are there for good.

If you are concerned about creating them I could email them to you its like a couple of 5kb files thats all. ( youd need to PM me for that.)

    See what you think first.

Basically You stick your file in TMPGenc set the video bitrate to what it is now (is it about 750fps or somethying near) and encode . The mpeg you get out of it you can just create a vcd with nero.

Well hopefully you have the templates by now.

To get them in the right place do this

Click - ill just do the steps - start - my computer - C Drive - program files - TMPGencPlus - Templates

Copy and paste or drop the files into that folder (thats it) it should now lok like this

Then if you close that down - open TMPGencPlus - Hopefully it will look like mine.

Yes, I have them all in the Templates folder now (Thanks). Do I need to change any of the settings at all or am I ready to go?

    Ok
Click on the template you want , your file is NTSC 29.970fps , if your going to leave it as NTSC click the NTSC XVCD template.

    Browse and open your file
    Click next
    Source range
Set start frame -move to end frame - set end frame
    next
    Click other settings
on the first screen make sure it is set to constant bit rate
change the bit rate to 726 (thats what the original file has)
    CLICK OK (important here)
    Click other settings again
    click advanced
Video arrange to full screen(keep aspect ratio)
    click ok
    click next

Where it says unknown media drop down and select 80min cdr

Ignore the fact that it says 200 in the bitrate on this page.

You should find that the blue line is within the 80 mins of the cd
    Click next
    click ok
    That's it

Should be pretty quick mine says well under an hour to do.

Then you should be able to make a vcd with nero !

There is no need to re-encode the mpeg file!!!!!!

Just fire up TMPGEnc go to file menu select mpeg tools,
    goto last tab 'merge/cut'
    load your file using add
in the dropdown box at the top select 'MPEG-1 Video-CD (non-standard)'
select an output location for the new file.
    click run.

    Done

TMPGEnc just rewrites the headers should only take 5mins, and nero won't complain.

    Good News !

I,m glad Roderz method didn't work this time , it would have made all that effort seem a waste.
But it's something to try first next time.

    cheers.
