Hi, I am thinking of buying an external hdd to be use for LIVE capturing videos with Canopus ADVC-100 via USB2.0 port. I was wondering if it will cause problems, like drop frames or stop capturing altogether due to low speed of the USB port?? Any1 can advice pls, THanks alot!!

  2. get a firewire enclosure instead, or better yet an enclosure that supports both firewire and USB. USB is just too unstable for this sort of thing. Firewire works much better but if you have an enclosure with both you can see what works best for you.

Firewire is slightly faster in real life than usb 2.0. Although I for one use usb 2.0 with 120G and have been using it with advc 100 fine.

Chances that your MB only supports usb 1.1. Many system utils. software can give you a hint whether it's 1.1 or 2.0.

Yes, the ide to usb/firewire controller inside the enclosure box could by pass BIOS limitation in most cases.
