With CBR mpeg2 files I can use the slider and control buttons with no problem. If I try the same with an mpeg2 file that has been made using VBR it will play ok but if you try to use the slider or any control keys an error message appears "Unknown error has occured"

When I click the error link Microsoft site says it's error c00d11cd.
This is a generic error with no real meaning.

This same fault occurs in VCDeasy when you try to use it's media player. CBR fine, VBR no good.

Any ideas about the VBR problem ?

Can someone test this please ?

You know what? I gave up trying to work all the bugs out of Windows Media Player. Stopped using it years ago. Have a look at Media Player Classic.

I don't normally play my MPEG2 files in WMP anyway.
What annoys me is that VCDEasy suffers the same problems with VBR files when using it's media player to choose chapter points.

I don't know if that's a WMP problem causing VCDEasy to play-up or a codec that both use for playback.

ps. What's your signature block video from?
