  1. When trying to play a newly burnt cd on my dvd palyer it locks up the computer and just hums away with the light on till I eject it, anyone got a clue as to what I have done wrong?

  3. Ok I will try. I converted an avi file to mpeg1 and then followed nero's instructions on creating a vcd and it went through all the motions of doing so and reported a succesfull burn. When I try and play the vcd back in my resident dvd player (which I know works with the media I'm using) it just sits there and hums. The play light comes on and the windows hourglass comes up as though waiting for something to happen. The set recording speed is 8x and I have tried it at 4x same result.Other than that i can't tell you much more

    Was your Mpeg file VCD compliant? I have the same problem before, I found out it was because I had the video bit rate set too high, and it was not vcd compliant.

    May be your DVD player is not compatible.
