  1. I have compressed a video (of 2 hours) with DivX and I've just realized that in the top of it appear some lines.

My question is, is there any way to crop the top of the video without reencoding/recompressing the video?

BTW, which divX codec do you prefer? 5.05 or 5.1.1? I have 5.1.1 and it takes a lot of time recompressing...

    Cheers!

  2. I don't know if there is a plugin to allow you to open an Mpeg 4 video in Avisynth, but if there is you can use Avisynth to crop it then just set Vdub to direct stream processing and save it as a new file. But it would be best to reencode from the source with the right crop settings as that abrupt transition to the black bar plays havoc with encoding and it really takes a lot of bitrate to deal with.

BTW my favorate is Xvid 1 RC3 8)

  3. Sorry Suntan but that is not correct. You don't need a plugin for avisynth - just the required codecs. Also avisynth presents uncompressed frames to any encoder/player so direct stream copy with virtualdub will result in an enormous uncompressed file.

However I agree with you about Xvid.

So basically ,as far as I know ,the file will have to re-encoded.

  5. Oh yeah, I guess I was thinking of how ffdshow can use avisynth's filters and not that avisynth itself will output the uncompressed data.
