I have these episodes of Family Guy and they used to play perfectly, but now when I play them, there are several times each episode where during fast motion (which is rampant through FG) where the picture gets very messed up. I'd make a screenshot example but I don't know how, PrintScreen doesn't work because of the overlay.
From VirtualDub, it identifies the episodes with the Xvid codec, but when I play them in Winamp, there are lots of video problems, I've even had Winamp crash. I looked at the details, and it's because of "xvidcore.dll". When I started to have problems, I tried updating Xvid by downloading a suggested Xvid update called "XviD-1.0-RC3-29022004.exe" which I think was installed already I think.
Can anyone help?

I think I fixed the problem. Something must have gone haywire so I tried to install earlier codecs than the one mentioned above. I installed one in a filename called "XviD-Dec-160704.exe" and it looks fine now. Hopefully this can help anyone having this trouble in the future.

yeah, i had the same problem with fam guy season 3.
i had a film encoded in XviD 1.0 which played back choppy and so was told to update xvid codecs and disable xvid in ffdshow.
this made film play ok but then fam guy was really screwy like you described
i re-enabled xvid in ffdshow and now everything works fine.
