  1. Dear all,

I'm just a stupid newbie in VCD making. I captured avi files from DVcam (D using Adobe Premiere. In the very first test, I captured clips in short (about 1-2 mins). I can make the VCD by using Nero 5.5 for converting and burning the CD with no problem at all.

After that, I captured a clip at about more than 10 mins to try. I did the same procedure to burn the VCD with Nero. When I playback at the beginning of the clip is OK but at about 4min later the sound is completely gone... no sound at all actually but the picture stil look OK.

Could anyone tell me what this problem is about? And of course, how could I solve this problem?

    I use PC (PentiumIII-750Mhz) with:
    384MB Ram
    7200rpm 40GB Hdd
    Win2000

    Thank you in advance.

    Here's how I do it:

    1) Use TMPGEnc for MPEG-encoding. I do this by useing the AVISynth and frameserve TMPEnc directly from Adobe Premiere. Advantage of this is that if You do any edit's and stuff to Your clip before creating the VCD, You don't have to save a new AVI before encoding the VCD mpeg.

    2) I use GNU VCDImager and CDRDAO to burn the VCD. Haven't failed so far. You could also create a Nero compliant image and use Nero to burn it I guess...

The frameserving bit can be somewhat hard to set up at times (in my case mainly because I have several versions of the plug-in and AVISynth, and I always manage to mix the versions when installing). There are easy "follow-me" type of instructions for this though...

    /Rico
