  1. ok the subject line has broken the ice here. In a bit more detail, can someone tell me how much time can be squezed on a svcd (as an option to blokiness on vcs) so the picture quality is sharp & block free.audio can be at 128 (I think its acceptable) as for bitrate and all the other stuff im a bit lost on how to calculate it. Im sure theres a few others with this question in mind. Idealy I want to put a single film on 2 cdr's.

    cheers

  2. 1.Use the bitrate calculator...
    2. Depending on the film..is there alot of action or movment? if so..then a higher bit rate is needed.
    3. What size media.
    4. Use MPEG1 or 2..
    5. CBR vs. VBR
    6. THE LENGTH OF THE MOVIE!!!

I guess we need to know..the time of the film....and media!! 650 vs.700 or +++

Once we know some basic facts..we can go further!

  3. Hey

I record episodes of Star Trek Voyager and Star Trek The Next Generation, and now ENTERPRISE!

I burn them to 80 minute Prime Peripheral Cdrs 20 bucks 100 cds at office max!

I use a video bitrate of 2000 and audio as 160! 480x480 resolution
I get abour 46-48 minutes per cd

  4. At standard bitrate for an 80min CDR you get get ~39. But by lowering the bitrate you can get up to 53,333min (at video=1kbit/s audio=1kit/s in theory I think this could work ).

Most people don't like to drop the video bitrate below 900, and audio below 96. I normally use Audio=128kbit/s, multipass VBR max=2550, min=300, ave=1400~2300. This allows be to get 60~75min of high quaility MPEG2 data per 80min CDR.

  5. HI,

Using DVD2SVCD software, I usually have an average of 55 minutes movie on a 700MB CD-R. This is done with CCE encoder, VBR, 2 passes, min 300, max 2600, avg 1600.

    Resulting quality is perfect.

    Hope this helps

    Waldok.
