  1. Hi, i have downloaded a few mpg files and i was wanting to join them together. I have used Tmpgenc without any problems before, but for some reason when i try to join these 4 mpg files, the finished mpg file always has the problem of being out of sync. The original mpg files are all fine, it is only when i join them via tmpg.

Can anyone give me any tips or recommend other programmes which are better for joining mpg files

    thanks for ur help

I was going to say if you are making a DVD you don't
have to - just add them all , and they will play sequentially.

    Womble MPEGVCR works pretty good.

You are welcome to give it a shot. The MPEG2 system stream
    specifications are available.

  7. You'll need an editing program that deals directly with MPEG-2 files. Otherwise you must re-encode the entire MPEG-2 stream when you add several MPEG-2 files together.
Womble MPEG VCR and M2 Edit Pro both direcltly edit MPEG-2 streams without re-encoding. They cause no sync problems PROVIDED that all the MPEG-2 streams have exactly the same specs. WARNING: if you tyr to edit together 2 or more MPEG-2 streams with different specs, you WILL get sync and other problems. For example, if you try to edit togehter a PAL format MPEG-2 stream and an NTSC-format MEG-2 stream, or an MPEG-2 stream in half D1 added to a full D1 MPEG-2 stream, etc. Even different audio bitrates will cause problems in editing 2 MPEG-2 streams together.
Of the 2, M2 Edit Pro does a better job of additively adding MPEG-2 streams. It's very fast, taking only a couple of minutes, but does bloat the filesize up considerably. To get rid of that demux the edited final file and reduce it using DVDShrink or ReJig to get the file back to the original size.
Another possibility is to drag and drop your MPEG-2 files into a program liek VEGAS Video or Adobe Premiere. However, this requires that you wait while the program re-encodes your entire file. Womble and M2 Edit Pro do not require a full transcode to do edits.
