I've used an older version of nero for some time now, but took the plunge recently and got a new version 6.3.02 which I believe is the most up to date version.

Installed it on my laptop just fine - actually think the startsmart and other new stuff is pretty cool.

However, installed it on my main desktop PC and its been a nigthmare.

Startsmart appears ok, but whenever I select any of the programs such as nero burning rom to run, startsmart minimizes but nero does not initiate. Ctrl alt del doesn;t even show it as a running application, but nero is in the process tree.

Windows cannot close the process down, and my pc then acts strangely and usually freezes. It will not even shut down properly and I have to hit the reset button (something I very rarely have to do with xp pro)

I've cleaned the registry, got rid of all traces of previous versions of nero but still the same.

If I access burning rom from the start menu it initialises, but then freezes - again I cannot close it down which is strange in itself.

Any ideas as its driving me mental.
