Just saw that Tmpgenc now offers an AC3 plug-in for DVD Author for $29. Anyone tried this? Any comparisons with Besweet? Thanks.

I just use ffmpeg for my ac3,easy to use and freeware.Since besweet took out support for ac3 encoding i would say it is better than besweet.

  3. I'm not too big on this pluggin. its not a one time fee. the license expires after a while and you have to renew it. I'd rather stick with FFMpeg GUI myself.

But are you sure renewing the license costs money again? Looking at the e-mail they sent me, and looking at their web site, I get the feeling the "renewing the license" is strictly to make sure it's only installed on one PC, much like the Windows XP Product Activation.

  6. I just purchased the plug-in last night. The way I understand it is the plug-in is a one time cost of $29.00 but the plug-in periodically uses the internet to check the serial number. When I installed it there was a option to do this automatically. I went this way because I use TMPGEnc DVD Author and wanted true AC3 audio. For $29.00 I don't mind it checking the serial number but if I have to keep paying for it I'll uninstall it.

Have you gave it a go yet? What do you think of the plug in?

  8. So far all I done is a test on a 5 minute mpg I have and it worked ok. If I get a chance today or tommorow I'll try backing up a VHS tape and let you know how it works.
