Id like to know if the DVDR/RW 5 burners will be able to write DVD9 disks??? If not plz doea anyone know when the DVDR\RW 9 drives are scheduled to come out in the market in the near future?

There are rumours floating round that one of the current drives (Benq?) will be firmware upgradeable to handl DVD-9, but I wouldn;t count on it. As for the rest of the current crop, its very unlikley.
The 1st DVDr-9 drives are expected end Q1 '04 or early Q2, but again, don't count on it. And expect them, and the mdeia, to be expensive to start with. -
A reliable source inside BenQ Europe told me that a rumoured firmware upgrade to add Dual Layer Burning Capability to BenQ DW800A will be released in Jan 2004 . I heard Philips was working on this but their product would not be introduced before April/May 2004.
