If I have a DivX video that's currently 640x480 (1.33:1 / 4:3), what would my x,y,z values be? Following the article, I get 540 for x, but y comes out as a negative number...

    thx in advance.
DivX uses square pixel resolution whereas DVD does not. Full screen for DivX is 640x480 but full screen for DVD is 720x480

    So use:

    LanczosResize(720,480)

and don't use the AddBorders command.

Sounds too simple I know but it will work. Now if your DivX has a resolution other than 640x480 then that is another story.

  3. THANKS!

I got all the way through the article, but when I load my m2v into TMPGEnc DVD Author, I get the error:

The video GOP is too long.
blah blah must be in the following condition:

    Max 36 fields (18 frames) - NTSC

What encoder were you using? TMPGEnc or CCE or Mainconepts etc?

I made this mistake once with CCE but it is hard to do with TMPGEnc unless you used the wrong template or didn't follow the WIZARD MODE or did something really wrong

  5. I used CCE - followed the article to the letter!!

I found some other posts stating similar problems with the process, so I went ahead and built an image in imgtool for testing. My problem NOW is there is NO audio! I use WinDVD for playback, and it usually plays ac3 just fine through my main out. I tried playing the ac3 file alone in WinDVD, but I get nothing. The wav file does have audio....very confused!!! What am I doing wrong?

  6. OK - what about this. On the step where I save the wav file in VirtualDub:

When I open the avi movie in VirtualDub I get the following error:

VirtualDub jas detected an improper VBR encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 31182 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the entire audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 120.4 +/- 26.0 kbps).

If you are saving to wav using audio->full processing doesn't that error msg matter.
