Hi,
I use Nero to create a VCD from DAT file. The VCD plays ok
on the computer but cracks and pops a lot on the Pioneer DVD
player. I've player VCD on this player before without problem. Do I have to convert the DAT file to MPEG1 before burning to VCD?

I reencoded the DAT with VCD template in TMPGEnc, it works fine on DVD player. I guess the
DAT was encoded with a different bitrate that 1150. Is there any tool can tell the bitrate of
an encoded DAT or MPEG? -
There's some program called BitRate Viewer. Search for it... it out there... somewhere... =|

hmmm. that shouldnt matter, my pioneer plays my SVCD's perfectly fine and their bitrates reach about 2600, and go as low as 600.

Yeshi,
I guess you have a newer Pioneer model, mine is 414, it does not play SVCD or XVCD.
