  1. When i encode my movies to SVCD format i always get a big file at the end which is something like 2 Gigs and then i had to split the movie into 4 parts and then i have put them onto 4 CD-Rs. But i don't want four CD-Rs burned like that. Is there away to put a SVCD onto one CD-R or Is It possible to put them onto 2 CD-Rs? The program i am using is call MainConcept MPEG Encoder. I hope to hear from you soon.

  2. Vbr, use 2 pass encoding with am average bitrate 1600-2000. Use tmpgenc or CCE. google search for kwag. v good quality can be obtained from 2cd backups. use 99min cdr (approx 2gb).

addition... even at 2 gbs you still only need 3 discs (@800mb) or even 3 discs (@700mb)

    No.

How are you going to put 2 GB worth of MPEG 2 onto an 800 MB disk?

If you encoded it correctly, then you could keep the size down to 1550-1600 MB and put it on 2 disks. Quality will suffer on movie over 100 minutes unless you go to 3 disks. You can put more on a disk if it's letterboxed (black bars don't take up much bitrate in a VBR encode).

Since you don't have any idea what your doing, I suggest the DVD2SVCD bundle. You can select how many disks you want the final product to be, and it spits out bin/cues for you to burn. Doesn't get much simpler than that.

  5. It can be done. With good quality.
    Go here: www.kvcd.net
That is what that site is all about. Getting DVDs on one CD. Read the guides and read the forums. You will be surprised how good they look on one CD.

DVD2SVCD needs TMPGEnc or CCE to do the encoding, you need to download one of those (TMPGEnc has 30 day free trial).

A 700 MB CDR holds 700 MB of Data or (Mode 1) or 800 MB of VIDEO/SVCD/VCD (mode2).

I wasn't going to suggest KVCD because I don't think he's ready for that yet.

Because you didn't RTFM. Did you tell it where TMPG is located, it's all in the settup instructions. You have to tell it what encoder to use and where the encoder is.

AND, you need to RTFM about DivX and TMPGEnc. If you can't open the file in TMPGEnc, then DVD2SVCD isn't going to be able to open it either.
