Sorry if this question is fairly simple, but I would like to know.
I'd like to know if an 'S-video' capable vcr would create higher quality captures for the source media that I am working with.
My source tapes are generally home movies or stuff recorded off the TV many years ago.
I have an ATI AIW 128 pro, which has S-Video input.
Since the source tapes were recorded on a 'regular' vcr, would I see any improvement in capturing these tapes thru S-video as opposed to the composite?
For that matter, when IS it an advantage to have an S-Video capable VCR?
Does s-video make all videos look better just because the signal isn't combined like on composite? Or is it more dependent on the source (ie home recorded vs. store tapes)?
I'd really like to get the best possible capture from the source, especially since some of the tapes are showing their age. Anybody have recommendations on s-video capable vcrs?
thanx in advance.
