    Here's a bizarre one:

I bought a VCD from someone on eBay and the VCD won't play on my DVD player (Sony DVP-S360), refuses to play AND be recognized by my PC or any other PC that I've tried, BUT it plays just fine on my brother's DVD player (Sony NS315B)...

What would be the cause of this odd phenomenon? I've always thought that VCDs/CDRs could play on any PC, but not the case for DVD players... IS this an incorrect assumption or is this a isolated case?

    Thanks for your help.

Open Mediaplayer. Do a file/open.....browse the CD and open the .DAT file that's a few hundred MB's.

  4. If it does not play on your pc then there is a problem with the prog or drivers. What program are you trying to use it and as the poster before said has your player ever played vcd's

In the future I would not advertise the fact that you purchased vcd's from ebay as they could be (I am not saying these are) pirates.

The VCD is a copy. My finnicky Sony DVP-S360, can only play some manufacturer's CDRs (Princo)...

My PC doesn't even recognize the VCD when I use Windows Explorer (Win2K)... PowerDVD, WMP 9.0 do not see the disc's contents either... I've tried a number of other computers (work, home, friends) and they can't read the disc as well... Strange.

I thought the disc was bad, but when I popped the disc in my brother's NS315B, it played without a hitch. Go figure.

As mentioned earlier, my PC (and others) can't browse the disc.

I thought about the drivers, but the disc wasn't recognized on multiple PCs running different OSes (98, Win2K, XP)...

Oh, okay. But the disc is a copy.
