    Hey,

*Have you ever run out of ideas for your menu's???
*Would you like a place to get inspiration???

WELL!!! Heres the place for YOU!, lol me shud b a tele sales man.

I thought we could all post an example of the menu's we use in our (s)VCD's/DVD's etc.

This way we can all get new ideas and help each other with inspiration, me don't know bout you but I often run out of ideas and end up pacing about trying 2 think of a design, he he he :P

To start off the posting, "now I want u lot 2 post as well u hear" Me thought I shud post the menu I often use with my authoring, tis one me made in PhotoShop.....

Mine are always content-specific. I have a few backgrounds to template, but most of the images change disc-to-disc. Takes me about 5-10 minutes per menu, at most.

    Here's some examples:

I always try to keep them clean and simple, yet graphically attractive.

For those curious how I got 3 movies on the same discs, know that they are captures from tv, not disc rips, and are MPEG1 352x240 1856k bitrate video with 48hz AC3 2/0 256k stereo audio. They look better than VCD, the same as VHS, not quite DVD. The captures are blended deinterlaced, but since the original movie was film, the interlace is minor and causes almost no blurring, especially on normal-sized tv sets. Suits my needs.

The cartoon/episode discs are 352x480 3420k MPEG2 video with 48hz AC3 2/0 256k stereo audio. Direct tv captures with perfect quality. Episode discs with more than 7 episodes are VCD->DVD conversions.

See my site lordsmurf.com for more capturing info. Some menu-creation techniques will also be shown on the site by the end of August, so be sure to check it out.

  5. Try this one??

These are all from my Laserdisc collection. I usually put music with all my menus, at least with the main menu anyway.

I did have some Urotsukidoji and AD Police menus, but they were a little racy and thought better of posting them.

It's odd. I have not talent to draw, and for a while, cooking was one of the few ways that I had of expressing any kind of artistic side. Now with me capturing Laserdiscs and such, creating menus and box art is another way. Maybe we should have another thread, posting some original box art. I'm sure the Photoshop gurus would really shine then!

This has the Star Wars main theme as menu music. I do also have the standard editions with nice motion menues, but they don't really show well in stills.

  6. Hi, I'm a new member to these forums.
Here's my latest set of menus, for my 'Sydney 2000: Games of the New Millennium' Collection. I'm currently producing 70+ discs in this collection.

I'll add the Chapters and Extras menus soon.

  7. Maybe you guys could also mention in your menu posts what programs your using to make menus too. Those all look great so far
    Better than mine for sure

All I really do for now is choose a scene from the movie for a background or use a plain color, then select a scene from the movie for the chapter thumbs. Using standard templetes.

    No need to post mine

For now I am just making quicky backups so I can put away the tapes and not trying fancy stuff, though I do something different each disk to see how it looks.

and I'll second the suggestion - what tools are people using to create these menus?

    Nothing more, nothing less.

And you need a good selection of fonts.
    Frre fonts: http://www.acidfonts.com/searchbox.htm

DVDit! PE uses the images and fonts I give it.

I either scan images or find them on the web.
Just remember web images need to be at least 500x300.
Blowing images up to much pixelates.
The pixelation workaround is using a Gaussian Blur filter.

  11. What program should I use if I would like to have my menus in SVCD?
Is there I guide for it in somewhere?

  12. I found the background using Google image search, the rest took about 5 mins to do with Tmpgenc DVD Author (latest version). The thumbnails are 10 second clips, I couldn't be bothered to name the chapters.
