  1. Is there any tools available to compress MPEG2?

    I dont want to author into DVD and then use DVDShrink etc.

  2. MPEG2 is compressed video. You can not compress it more and not loose quality/info. For example you can not zip it. (Well you could try

    You can "transcode" it with something like dvdshrink.
    You can uncompress it and re-compress it with something like avisynth/cce.

    If you are trying to make "data" backups, I've used WinAce to split big files into cd-r sized files. Any option other than non-compressed is a waste of time.
