I want to buy a new television. Do I have to look if it has progressive scan capabilities? My DVD does, but does the tv also need this feature to have the benefits???

In a word... yes.
EX: My HDTV can detect and accept both interlaced and progressive.

I want to buy a Loewe tv. However I do not understand why even their top models don't have PS capabilities. At least I cannot find it in the specs...

Son its called 480p and any hdtv ready monitor will do it ,also make sure it has a built in line doubler I have the panasonic 32hx41 and it is great. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

I have a Sony KV36XBR250, which is 480p compatible but not "1080i".. What does that mean?? Can I hook up a HDTV receiver to my TV?? Thanks.

1080i is HD compatible, 480p is not.
The Sony KV-36XBR400 is 1080i, which is HD compatible.Geronimo
