Since my intention is to make VCD/SVCD, it doesn't hurt to post the message here as well...please refer to this post and give me some advise

As 'g_shocker182' wrote in that post, a IEEE-1394/FireWire card and Canopus AVDC-100 is the way to go; and for one of the greatest reasons - it blocks macrovision.
