  1. i am capturing with MMC7. no matter what length i set the capturing for it automatically shuts off after about 20 min then i have to start capturing again. my hard drive is a 40gig and i have about 30gig free, so i know its not a space problem.any help is GREATLY appreciated....

p.s.- i think i read somewhere on here that it might be a vcache problem but i can't remember where. and if thats it, i don't have the faintest idea how to set it......

  3. When capturing avi files in Win9x there is a 2GB file limit which equates to around 10mins of capture (@320 x 240 PAL)
I think that Win NT/2K with a FAT formated disk has a 4GB file limit (around 20mins capture ?), With an NTFS formatted disk there is no limit ?

I am not to sure about the Win NT/2K limits (someone will probably correct me) as I use Win98. But you can get around these limits on any OS by capturing with a program like AudioDUB or Avi-IO. Both of these programs continuously capture your video in 2GB (or any value that you set) blocks which are apended with numbers eg. capture.00.avi, capture.01.avi etc. You can then encode these files individually to MPG's and then join them into one MPG file with TMPEGEnc.

  4. I know what your problem is. Your OS is using the FAT32 file system. You are either running Win98 or WinME, or also Win95 (right?).

What you need to do is upgrade/get a new OS that uses the NTFS file system. For example, Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

FAT32 limits the filesize to 4Gb/file. You said yours stops at about 20 minutes, and this makes sense.
    DV capture is 3.16Mb/sec. 20 minutes = 1200 seconds. 1200 x 3.16 = 3792Mb. That's almost 4Gb, so that's why it stops.

I have the same problem and am waiting for a WinME to WinXP upgrade so I can have a NTFS drive.

  5. i am running Windows ME. the size of the file is .98GIG. i am capturing at 640x240NTSC(525) 10.54 M Bit/sec 44100, 16 bit stereo. i have been able to capture longer files using the standard compliant setting and capturing using the Huffyuv codec. but those files usually get to around 2gig then they stop..i have tried to use the AVI-IO but it always told me it coudn't find the capture device. i get the same error with virtualdub. so i decided to stick with MMC7. i have tried others like Uleads video editor but it couldn't capture as good......

    Get it here

(just sign up/in, its a 1min process and worth the trouble )
Then go the files section and get all StreamAnywhere files and stuff...
