Just got a spindle of Memorex 50 for about 20 bucks.
Any idea why they're so cheap? Are they defective prone? Or am I just paranoid?

it all depends on your burner different burners like different cdr just experiment with different brands and use the one that give you the least problems.. also i refuse to pay more than 20$ for a 50 pack

I got a few 50-spindles of K-Hypermedia CDRs for $14. With manufacturers making recordable media for 24X burners I decided to stock up on stuff I trust. Besides why pay for alot more for media that is rated at 24X when my burner is 12X?

What about issues of longivity? This might be myth but I had believed it possible for certain low quality CD-R's to loose data after a while....
