i have been trying to put movies on only 1 cd yes i know they dont look good, but just for experimenting. i have been doing mpeg 2-23 fps(internally 29.97) 352*240 and well of course 3:2 Pulldown with the KVCDx3 Matrix.
oh and i put SUPER VIDEO CD VBR and i burnt it as a non standard SVCD, and it works good in my dvd player, but not as good in my friends dvd player. I was planning on putting these movies on a DVD-R and i was wondering if now being on DVD-R will they work on his dvd player i mean it does work on his dvd player, but only half a screen. the reason i dont do MPEG 1 is cause i dont wanna do 29 fps and you cant do 3:2 pull down. any better suggestions on what i can do would greatly be appreciated. i cant check cause i dont have a dvd burner yet hoping on getting one for my B-Day

i don't think dvd can play an mpeg2 at 352x240. try 352x480 or an mpeg1 at 352x240. not really experienced at dvd so don't take my word for scripture.

  4. I've burned 8-10 DVD+R's and a few DVD-R's with MPEG 1 files at 352x240 at a variety of bitrates (750-850) and they work fine in my standalone player. The original AVI's had low bitrates to begin with so I figured it wouldn't hurt the quality any.

(I convert the AVI to MPG with TMPGenc and create the DVD files with TMPGenc DVD and then burn the DVD with Nero's video DVD option)

    Hope this helps,

yea well that does help thank you very much but can you please do me a favor can you use the same template i used in the picture and test it out and tell me if it works. like its cause i wanna do mpeg 2 because it has the 3:2 pulldown option i think it doenst need as much bitrate as 29.97 does or is it the same cause if it is well ill just stick to mpeg 1 352*240 and 29.97 frames per second.

  6. 352*240 is not a valid resolution for SVCD. Some players may play it but it looks like yours does not. You might be better using mpeg-1 and burning as VCD as that is now a valid resolution. You will have to encode at 23.97fps or 29.97fps as mpeg-1 does not support 3:2 pulldown. Also, VBR (CQ in your case) is not part of the VCD spec, so your ability to playing this is still in the nads of your player.

As soon as you setp away from any of the (S)VCD or DVD specifications you risk compatibility issues. You need to experiment to find out what your player can handle before settling on encoder settings that suit your needs.
