  1. SONY'S ALL-IN-ONE DESKTOP NOW HAS ALL-IN-ONE ENTERTAINMENT
Sony today unleashed its VAIO® PCV-W500GN1 desktop.

The latest entry in Sony's desktop PC family multiplies entertainment options in any room with a 17.5-inch wide format bright LCD, integrated DVD/CD-RW drive and Giga Pocket® personal video recorder. It has a small footprint and breathtaking design highlighted by a white aluminum finish and acrylic accents.

The new software, Giga Pocket, which was released in Japan last year, makes this (or any Sony Vaio) a PVR. You can then burn DVD's and watch them anywhere.

The link is to a story explaining how Giga Pocket software works. The software was only available on Japan Vaio's, the latest US Vaio's have it installed now.

hmmm. I was shopping for a new computer in February and the Sony models at that time had the Gigapocket thingy. I am not so sure it's something new, even in the US.
