You don't need to overburn, a 74min CD-R burnt as (S)VCD contains up to 747MB.

    Hello Kimpan!

    In short, Yes.

Overburning is a little subjective in that it depends on if your cd burner is capable of overburning a CD. I suggest you try the program called Nero, I have had a lot of success with it. See the "Author" section under "How To". Since you are making a mpeg 1 XVCD, I would choose the VCD selection. Also make sure you uncheck make a compliant VCD. Nero will give you an error message when you start to burn. I disregard this and just click overburn disc. You should be able to use a 74 min disc, but a 80 min disc I think should definitely work.

    Good Luck!

You do not need to overburn a 723mb file in VCD mode onto a 74 minute disc! In VCD mode, a 723mb file roughly equates to 72 minutes 20 seconds ... even if the actual playtime of the XVCD-ready file is shorter. That file would fit comfortably on your basic 650mb/74min CD.
