this advice is driving me a little crazy:
1.) when i "lock" the audio doing PAL or NTSC capturing
SVHS vcr (svhs out for image) -> (svhs in) CANOPUS ADVC-100 -> firewire -> pc (scenalyzer)
i often get audio gaps which are totally unwanted. so....doing capturing in "unlocked" mode (= switch 3 "ON") everything's fine....i wonder why is that ? doesnt make sense at all, does it ?
2.) besides that i would like to know if you have made some experience in capturing old bad VHS which turn out in "jumping image" like a vhs being forwarded for a very short time in my DV AVI file using the mentioned capturing ? stablizer needed ? are there devices you could recommend for bad vhs ?
any help appreciated!

re problem #2:
If you have a poor video source you can defeat the MACROVISION default by holding down the INPUT selection on the top left of the box for about 20 seconds or so. Depending on your applications, you may see a colorbars image at first, just keep holding the input down until they disappear. This may help with the jumpy video problem. (not to mention other things)
Be aware that if the video source is poor you will probably have some audio problems despite the audio lock. (poor sync, garbling, volume drops) Not CANOPUS' problem.
ADVC100 is still the best afforable thing out there for amateurs.
