I am thinking about getting a capture card.
The source will be from TiVo so it's been encoded and decoded once already.
I am still trying to choose between ATI AIW or the ADVC-50. After reading the forum and "txpharoah" posts (!) I am leaning towards the AIW because it is cheaper and while I am not a gamer, the card might be usefull for other things. The canopus web site list my mobo chipset (VIAKT333) and problems with WinXP SP1.
My main concern is about editing. Is it easy to edit MPG2 (vs DV AVI) to remove comercials for example?
Anyone using the canopus on a Gigabyte 7VRXP? Problems?
Thanks![]()

w/ respect to Editing..
No. But, it is easierto edit an .AVI file (be it DV or huffy or whatever)
CONS: filesize is smaller, but harder to edit those mpeg-2 files.
PROS: easier to edit, but larger filesize for .AVI files.

Does the ATI AIW let you capture in AVI format?
How big is a 1 hour AVI file?
Thanks for your help -
the AIW will capture AVI, MPG1, MPG2.
On the average, I believe that I get about a 14 - 20GB file for an hour of uncompressed AVI(video and audio).
