  1. Is there a TV tuner card out there that captures over 352x240 and also captures MPEG-2 in real time?

I never have figured out why they sell you a remote control. Your sitting right in front of the computer. If I wanted a dinky screen, I'd watch the PC, otherwise, I'll stick with my Widescreen HDTV

That said, I prefer the nVidia line of cards. You can upgrade the card later on, while retaining the tuner box. Just plug it into the new card. This way your not tied to a capture card that quickly gets outdated by newer/better performers.

  5. I just a bought a wintv pvr-250 and it's great. It has onboard hardware mpeg2 encoding. If you go with something that only has software encoding, you need a 2.4ghz proc or faster to realtime encode. I have a 1.4GHZ pc and while capturing 720x480 my processor usage is only ~30%. Settings are completely customizable, and the quality is the same as if I was watching tv. I capture from my satellite and burn DVDs and I am happy with the quality.

ATI All In Wonder Radeon 7000-, 8000-, and 9000-series cards all work great. They capture MPEG2/MPEG1/AVI/etc and can capture up to 720x480. Excellent card, no complaints.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

How are you getting the satellite audio signal into the PVR-250? I am wanting to capture from my Directv satellite receiver. Most of the cards I have been looking at only have a mini plug input for the audio.

Any modern $50 card will do over 352x240.
For making mpeg with such card in realtime you need a pc >= 2 GHz.
WinFast TV2000 Deluxe is very popular in this forum, you can consider it.
