But you can capture to MPEG2 High bitrates and then convert to VCD with TMPGENC to get better quality. Read how to convert mpeg2 to mpeg vcd under CONVERT.

As Baldrick said you can do that but that going take lot more time then if where just record in to MPEG1 VCD.
As for quality diff must like be very little diff in quality.
You went take look at this page http://home1.inet.tele.dk/box5000/pvr.htm
As for "captured video is playing upside" sametime that cause by runing WinTV2000 and Windows Media Player at the sametime just make sure you install the latest DirectX, Hauppauge MPEG2 soft decoder & WMP 7.1 and should be fine after that.

    As TecoLtd put it,
The different encoders did accomplish the tasks with different results, to be more precise one encoder was able to encode the trees in good quality but the fast movings caused problems, another one created excellent quality at
fast movements but crashed at the swimming pool - and so on. (Is not optimal choice... - again, I'm not sure what you mean here. You could say There is no optimum choice. A better way to say it might be, There is no perfect solution.)

  8. Why not capture inMPEG2 so you can have a very good and sharp SVCD, I do MPEG2 to SVCD on my PVR with fantastic results, mine you you must have the reg edit patch to open up the advance control so you can manually change the bitrate, throttle, audio and res. settings. I set mine to the following
    480x480 res.
    MPEG2
2520 Constant Bitrate(leave the above setting at 5000)
    Audio 192
    Throttle at 0.070
    Sharpness at 0.00
Now my sources are Hi8mm, DVD, laser Disc and Dishnet Sat., the SVCD's I make look great on my 36in. and even good on my dad's 46 big screen.
I can never get a VCD to look good at all from this card, I just usually record it as a uncompressed AVI from this card, then encode with TMPGE as a XVCD at 2520 bitrate.
You need to make sure your standalone DVD player can play SVCD and/or XVCD.

  12. sorry for the late reply !

thxkid ,unfortunately my DVD player (Sony DVPS530D) doesn't support SVCD . But I never tried burning XVCD. I think the quality will of XVCD will be little better than VCD.what is that regedit patch?
