  1. I am new at using XMedia Recode. I am converting Uncompressed AVI (Lagarith) to Uncompressed MOV to edit video on a MAC. I see I can convert to ProRes using XMedia Recode, which is fine, but.... I was thinking of using PNG instead because it is lossless unlike ProRes which is lossy. I didn't see that in the list of Codecs of choice. Animation was the only one. Animation tends to be huge in comparison to PNG. Is there a way to add in PNG in the list by editing the "mov.ini" file in the format directory?

Any experts out there with insight would be greatly appreciated!

...except XMedia Recode is a Windows program.

iirc xmediarecode is based on ffmpeg which just recently implemented the mov encoding and i don't believe png was included at all. since you are already in the yuv color space prores422hq is probably your best bet if the mac can't handle lagarith or huffyuv.

  7. Yeah. I think I will stick to ProRes when I need to convert an AVI to MOV for editing on a MAC.
Thank you all for you help.
