  1. Are there any capture (would prefer hardware encoding) cards that has an audio input? Would prefer either toslink, coaxial or L/R. I will be connecting my satellite audio to it. I finally figured out with some help on this forum that the reason my captures was not getting any audio is that my card does not have any audio input.

Right now I have the audio connected to the Maudio DiO and can receive sound without having any capture software running. When I try to playback the captures I do not have any audio. This is the reason I am looking for a different card.

    Thanks,

  2. Try WinTV-PVR250/350.

    Edit:
WinTV-PVR-350 also includes a hardware MPEG2 decoder and an S-Video output, so you can watch your recorded TV shows or home videos on your large screen video monitor or TV set!

  3. I have my HTPC now connected via DVI from my Radeon 9500 Pro to my GWII. Will these cards still be able to send the video through my Radeon 9500 Pro instead of the s-video output?

  4. sound s like you need a tool called Tvtool this sorts out where and how your video is output and is particularly good at outputting to Tv including overscan etc.
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

He is asking about capture cards not tv out cards.

Not sure why you need a capture card with sound capability anyway.
If you are feeding the audio to the pc seperately just plug it into LINE-IN socket on your sound card. Then tell your capture software to use that as the audio source.

  6. The problem is that my satellite receiver has toslink and coaxial outputs. So I cannot plug into the line in which is mini-plug. I have tried several times to fine an adaptor that will do this, with no luck.

Check this site. I think this is the converter you are looking for. Toslink input to analog RCA output.

The Toslink is the small square fibre optic connector on the back of some newer audio and video equipment. It is used for Digital audio. Found a site in the UK that carries a PC audio card that has both inputs and outputs for Toslink and digital coax. Check out this site.

I have the convertor already. The problem is the line in takes a mini-plug not a RCA plug.

  12. Will a toslink to mini plug cable transfer a PCM signal from my satellite receiver?

My ATI AIW 7200 and 7500 cards have the audio card internally joined with the capture card. The breakout box allows you to plug in RCA audio and RCA/s-video.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

Check the link I sent before. If you look through their site you will see that they carry all types of adapters and cables there should be one in there that should work. Have never tried the Toslink , but I think it should carry the PCM data through the converter.
Also check your local electronics shop for a 1/8" stereo plug to stereo RCA plugs(i think this is the mini plug you are asking about).

TXpharoah What are you talking about?? Reubenray is asking about a converter for Toslink or coaxial Audio to 1/8" mini plug.

I did check those sites that you posted. Several of them has toslink to mini plug cables. I just wish I could find one locally in case it did not pass PCM audio. I could have sworn I have seen them at the Rat Shack, but after checking three different stores I have not been able to find them yet.

If I cannot get the cable to work I might have to decide to either get the Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe or the Canopus ADVC-100. I am just concerned about the USB connection not being as good as a PCI connection.
